Interesting Places in Nagoya


I explain history of Nagoya Castle. Nagoya Castle was raised a castle by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1609. He raised it for his ninth son, Yoshinao on around the site of Nagoya Castle which is said Oda Nobunaga was born. After it was raised, it used as a main residence of lord by the Owari Tokugawas until Meiji era. Parts of Daisho Tenshu which is castle tower, Yagura which is building for protecting the castle and Goden which means a palace had remained until beginning of Showa era but they were burnt because of Nagoya air raid in 1945. However after World WarⅡ, Tenshu was restored. Trace of castle is maintained as Meijo Park.
